What are money market funds?

Money market funds are investment funds that invest primarily in short-term, highly liquid and security-oriented financial instruments. These financial instruments generally comprise short-term debt instruments such as money market instruments, short-term corporate bonds and bank deposits. Due to the very low-risk investment in highly liquid financial instruments worldwide, money market funds are broadly diversified and are particularly suitable for investors who require a certain degree of flexibility and still want to achieve a return.
